In the framework of the project "Fostering a deeper Europeanization of Moldova", was held the Participatory Roundtable on the topic “EU-MOLDOVA Association Agreement: towards political association of Moldova with the EU”, on 28-29 April 2015 in Chisinau at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.


Objectives of the Participatory Roundtable were:


- To project the achievements and obstacles of the Europeanization of Moldova within European Neighborhood Policy, namely to raise awareness and inform the wider public on the progress achieved towards political association of Moldova with the EU and promote civil society involvement in the policy development;


- Increase of the information level of the citizens of Moldova on the purpose and aims of the European non-discrimination law and of their awareness of the necessity to combat racism and racial discrimination;


- To increase the capability of the legal practitioners and the members of other target groups included in the project for implementing the EU norms.


During two days the Participatory Roundtable sessions there was considered local self-government and citizens` participation in decision making process, there  was discussed a wide range of topics covering Moldovan`s legislation and practices on prohibition of racial, ethnic and religious discrimination, the rule of law and minorities rights in the process of cooperation between the EU and Moldova, the impact of the European non-discrimination law, the European model of minorities’ protection and similar issues.  In particular should be mentioned the addresses of Mr.Pirkka Tapiola, Ambassador, Head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova; Mr.Tudor, Vice-minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, as well Prof.Dr. Silvo Devetak, EMA’s Academic coordinator, President of Institute for Ethnic and Regional Studies of Maribor, Slovenia. At the meeting the participants of the RT have adopted the  Recommendations.


The Roundtable was attended by 80 participants (including 9 non-local contributors) representatives of the EU Delegation to Moldova, European Union and Eastern Partnership member states diplomatic missions, the representatives of governmental structures, independent national and European experts, members of civil society organizations and institutions, human rights’ practitioners and activists, civil servants and members of local authorities and members of local minorities, European legal practitioners,  academia (academic and administrative staff) and students (B.A, M.A, PhD), general public (including mass-media).


Working languages of the Participatory Roundtable were: Moldovan and Russian languages with simultaneous translation in English
